The ASTL will invite Savills’ director of residential research Susan Emmett and The Financial Conduct Authority’s mortgage sector manager Lynda Blackwell.

The Association of Short Term Lenders has released its full speaker lineup for its annual conference at Painters’ Hall in the City of London on 22 September from 9am-1pm.

The event is entitled ‘Lending in an Uncertain World’ and will look at the events facing bridging and short-term lending.

The ASTL will invite Savills’ director of residential research Susan Emmett and The Financial Conduct Authority’s mortgage sector manager Lynda Blackwell to speak.

The keynote speaker is Times columnist Lord Daniel Finkelstein, who is a former adviser and speech writer to John Major and William Hague. He will talk politics and is tasked with helping attendees prepare for what might be around the corner.

Also speaking is Alan Capper, economist and former head of credit strategy at both Lloyds Banking Group and Lehman brothers, who will look at the UK’s aging population and what that means for both UK infrastructure and finance.

Nick Cartwright, who is a tax partner at accountant Smith and Williamson, will talk on the effects of the changing tax landscape.

Benson Hersch (pictured), chief executive of the ASTL, said: “The ASTL conference has become a renowned fixture in the calendar for lenders, advisers and suppliers to the bridging and short-term lending industry.

“The conference will examine how everybody associated with the bridging industry can prepare themselves for a successful future by looking at what is around the corner that might affect our industry.”
