Financial fear pervading the nation
The Financial Services Authority's (FSA's) research into post-Christmas habits has shown that more people will go on a diet than will sort out their finances.
Whilst just under half of all those surveyed said that they would take steps to fight the flab, only 13 per cent planned to go through and sort out their finances.
Festive denial permeates the nation as over half (58 per cent) of people admitted they either didn't know what Christmas was going to cost them, or simply overspent anyway without regard for the consequences.
Chris Pond, FSA director of financial capability, said: "The consequences of not managing your money properly can be devastating. We can't promise easy solutions, but our free impartial Moneymadeclear guide will help individuals work out how much money they have each month and what to do if they are facing debts or the prospect of debts."
