Richard Brown becomes acting CML Chairman

Richard Brown has become acting Chairman of the Council of Mortgage Lenders. The move follows the departure of the previous Chairman, Steven Crawshaw from Bradford & Bingley plc, on health grounds.

4 June, 2008

Brown was previously one of the Deputy Chairmen of the CML.

He is currently Managing Director, Bank of Ireland Personal Lending, after joining Bristol & West in 1992. Since then, he has held a variety of operational roles, including Head of Professional Investments, Head of Central Mortgage Services, and Director of Lending. Brown has been in his current position since 2001, where he is responsible for Bristol & West Mortgages & Bank of Ireland Mortgages, as well as motor finance and personal loan operations.

The CML Executive Committee will be invited to confirm him as Chairman for the remainder of the year at its next meeting in July.
