Land Registration (Amendment) rules come into force on 10 November 2008
The amendments will see most notable changes in the areas of identification checks, new forms, and standard restrictions.
The amendments are the result of a review carried out by Land Registry and its subsequent consultation with customers from October 2007 to January 2008.
The aim of the review was to cut the administrative burden on customers, reduce the risk of fraud, improve operational efficiency and clarify rules.
The following statutory provisions also come into force on Monday 10 November 2008:
* The Commonhold (Land Registration) (Amendment) Rules 2008
* The Land Registration (Proper Office) (Amendment) Order 2008.
* For more information including the amended forms, practice guides and a detailed action booklet, visit www.landregistry.gov.uk and follow the 'Rules changes' link. For printed copies of the Take action booklet call 0844 8920392.
