Assurant Intermediary offers free service to help unemployed

Assurant Intermediary has announced today that it is adding a free advice service to its MPPI policy to help people that are made redundant get back on the career ladder as quickly as possible.

13 August, 2009

The service will be provided by JobCare, a company that specialises in providing personal advice and guidance on a range of employment issues.

Kevin Paterson, Sales and Marketing Director of Assurant Intermediary, commented: "Although MPPI brings financial peace of mind when a person is made redundant, it's still important to get back to work as quickly as possible; being redundant is emotionally distressing and puts a great strain on everyone in the family. JobCare are experts in this field and have a great track record: people get back to work up to 30% quicker than those without any support."

Paterson adds: "Brokers should look at the whole package when advising clients on MPPI products - price is important, but so too are the other benefits."

JobCare operates an independent and confidential telephone and website-based employment advice service designed to help customers find a new job or plan a change of career. It has successfully helped over 785,000 people with career advice and job search support. Some of the benefits of the service include:

§ A comprehensive back to work guide

§ A personal employment advisor

§ Access to national job vacancy databases

§ Information about alternative employment options including self-employment, franchising, consultancy and part-time work.

Mike Ison, Managing Director at JobCare commented: "Unemployment in the UK is at its highest level since 1995 with 2.44 million people now out of work. There has never been a time in recent history when this service has been needed more. Assurant Intermediary has shown great initiative in putting the two offerings together. I think it will be a fantastic value-added benefit for brokers to offer their clients."
