Colin Sanders will return in ‘not too distant future’

Fortwell Capital’s departed chief executive Colin Sanders has revealed he will return to the finance world in the ‘not too distant future’.

Writing on the business social network Linkedin, Sanders said he left to ‘do something new’ but will enjoy gardening leave ‘for a while’.

He wrote: “After six amazing years at Fortwell Capital / Omni Capital I am leaving the business to take some time out and do something new.

“I have immensely enjoyed building the two businesses for Christian Candy's CPC Group since 2011 and I have had the pleasure of working with two incredible management teams.

“Following the sale of Omni Capital Retail Finance to Castle Trust earlier this year and with Fortwell Capital in good shape to focus on its development funding business it is the right time for me to move on to pastures new.

“I am enjoying some garden leave for a while now but expect to be doing something in the finance world in the not too distant future. I'll be in touch soon.”

Sanders’ departure was announced two weeks ago, after which head of communications Bob Sturges, sales director Martin Gilsenan and business development manager Matt Rogers followed him out of the door.

With the number of Fortwell staff leaving unsurprisingly there is speculation they could set up a new firm.

Nathan Ellis-Calcott, director of sales at Thistle Finance, wrote on LinkedIn: “Good luck Colin [Sanders] and team.

“Enjoy your time out but DO come back with Martin [Gilsenan], the industry needs leaders like you guys.... as do brokers like me.”
