Legal & General paid out £44m in claims in 2016 due to its Early Warning System – A tool making sure advisers are aware of policies that are about to expire.

In 2016 the insurer received 607 claims from families and beneficiaries who renewed or updated policies due to the warning.

Steve Bryan, director of intermediaries at Legal & General, said: “We place a great amount of emphasis on the importance and necessity of client retention at Legal & General.

“Ensuring best customer outcomes is vital for the longevity of an adviser’s business and future, and the introduction of our Early Warning System is designed to help support both adviser and client.”
