Budget date confirmed
Prime Minister Gordon Brown has confirmed today that this year's Budget will be delivered on Wednesday 24 March.
The Treasury had to confirm the date officially to Parliament before announcing it. The Budget comes six weeks before the widely expected General Election date of 6 May.
It will be interesting to see what the Chancellor does in the Budget. The Tories believe the UK’s deficit should be cut immediately and drastically but both the Labour Party and the Lib Dems say the economy is still too fragile to cope with this.
