UK construction down 0.7%

Data from the ONS showed construction output fell 0.9% month-on-month in June in the run up to the referendum.

UK construction output fell 0.7% in the second quarter when compared tothe first, the Office for National Statistics has found.

New work was down 0.8% while repair and maintenance dropped 0.5%. In June alone, construction fell 0.9% from May.

However, the ONScautioned against blaming the slowdown as a direct result of the referendum.

It said: "There is very little anecdotal evidence at present to suggest that the referendum has had an impact on output."
