Blemain appoints learning and development manager

Paul joins from an HR consultancy in Manchester and brings will him key knowledge and an impressive track record in recruitment and training, according to Blemain.

Focusing on people skills and development in his new role, Paul will design and implement a centralised in-house training function. Based at Blemain’s head office in Manchester, the training will not only focus on general personal development, but also support the delivery of competency-based training schemes required by the industry’s regulators.

The appointment follows many people-focused initiatives launched by Blemain, including a commitment to delivering many staff incentives across the board. Examples of current staff benefits include free gym membership, childcare support vouchers and a health plan.

The training has already kicked off with staff attending bite-sized training covering elements such as presentation, feedback and appraisal skills. Paul has also implemented a specialist tailor-made training course for team leaders and new managers, specifically designed for individuals who are in a new role.

Paul Halliwell, learning and development manager at Blemain Group, said: “I am impressed with Blemain Group’s ongoing investment in its employees and its desire to take this seriously when many other companies are making cut backs. The management team understand the importance of strengthening skills and see how worthwhile a tailor-made training solution would be.”

Paul’s long-term goal is to implement a coaching programme internally, which will encourage staff to share knowledge and existing expertise across the business.

Paul continued: “By developing their existing staff, the company should see many high calibre internal candidates being considered for new roles. These opportunities to develop within a business will enhance staff progression.”

Steve Baker, director of operations at Blemain Group, said: “Paul’s expertise fits perfectly with our needs. We have listened to our staff and are now on a mission to benefit from Paul’s valuable contribution.”
