Target have employed over 1000 people in the South Wales region and posted four consecutive years of strong growth.

Boris Johnson visited Target Group’s headquarters in Newport with Angela Jones-Evans, Conservative parliamentary candidate for Newport West (pictured), last week.

The Foreign Secretary was visiting Target Group which is hailed as a South Wales “success story” after they have employed over 1000 people in the region and posted four consecutive years of strong growth.

This visit comes shortly before the firm’s latest financial results are released, which hopes to show strong progress this financial year.

Bill Alley, co-group chief executive at Target Group, said: “We were delighted to host the Foreign Secretary and the Conservative parliamentary candidate for Newport West today.

“The visit is recognition of the continued success of the company and the contribution Target Group has made to Wales and the wider UK economy.

“The fact that such a high profile government figure is keen to learn more about what we do is testament to the growth of the company and the hard work, dedication and talent of our staff as they make that success possible.”

Boris Johnson, secretary of state for foreign and commonwealth affairs, added: “Target Group is a great example of global Britain and what can be achieved by bringing together like-minded and hardworking individuals.

“The company has grown exponentially over the years and it is great to see it now develop an international footprint following its acquisition by Tech Mahindra.

“I have no doubt it will continue going from strength to strength in the years ahead.”

Angela Jones-Evans, Conservative parliamentary candidate for Newport West, also commented: “Target Group has made an invaluable contribution to the local economy in South Wales.

“It has created numerous jobs and been a great example of what can be achieved if an organisation commits itself to the area and its people.

“We are delighted they are here and wish them every success in the future.”
