Equity release specialist Bower Retirement Services has celebrated its 10th anniversary with a fundraising drive delivering over £11,000 for local charities.

Pancreatic Cancer UK and Saint Francis Hospice, based in Romford, Essex, will share the money raised at the dinner and charity auction held in the Houses of Parliament.

The dinner marked the 10th anniversary of Bower, which was founded by chief executive Geoff Charles with single member of staff in 2006, but has expanded to more than 80 including a nationwide network of advisers and a growing head office in Ongar, Essex.

Guests at the event heard from Debbie Wells, Community Engagement Manager at Pancreatic Cancer UK, and Dr Corinna Midgley, Medical Director of Saint Francis Hospice.

Charles said: “We are very grateful for the support from across the equity release industry and from business partners which enabled us to raise so much money.

“Both St Francis Hospice and Pancreatic Cancer UK are very important charities to me and deserve as much support as possible and we are delighted to have helped.”

The keynote speaker at the dinner was adventurer and personal trainer Sally Kettle – the first woman to row the Atlantic Ocean twice from East to West – ahead of the charity auction with items donated by business partners of Bower.

Guests also had a tour of the Houses of Parliament with MP Andrew Rosindell who sponsored the event for Bower, which has recently launched the first dedicated high net worth equity release service Bower Private Clients
