BUDGET 2015: John Heron responds

The Chancellor’s proposals appear to be proportionate and with the new system being gradually phased in, those individual landlords impacted will be able to plan accordingly.

With strong and growing rental demand we do not see these changes as having a material impact on demand for BTL mortgages but we will keep a close eye on developments and we will be talking to our landlord customers about their reaction to these changes.

Today, one in five households in England rely on the private rented sector as their home and demand from tenants is expected to remain high for the foreseeable future.

As such, landlords are likely to see the benefits of further investment in the sector.
