Countrywide has acquired Wolverhampton-based Mortgage Bureau for an undisclosed fee.

Mortgage Bureau employs 50 consultants and works with national housebuilders and estate agents, offering advice on mortgage and insurance.

Peter Curran, managing director of Countrywide Financial Services, said: “Countrywide has a clear vision of ‘bringing people and property together’, so a focus on providing an exceptional customer experience is central to our values.

“Mortgage Bureau is not only a great strategic and cultural fit in this sense, but also has established relationships with some of the biggest names in housebuilding and the wider property market.

“The impressive growth that the company has achieved over the past four years is a clear illustration of the quality of the business and the exceptional customer service that its people provide, and we very much look forward to welcoming them into our group.”

Mortgage Bureau is led by directors Mark Clouston and Jamie Barnett and has a strong presence with developers across the Midlands and North of England.

The company has growth its revenue by around 35% in each of the last four years.

It is an appointed representative of Mortgage Advice Bureau and generated £900m of mortgage lending in 2015.

Clouston said: “’Mortgage Bureau has been growing strongly over the past few years and in order to take our business to the next level we needed the support of a larger organisation with wider geographical spread, extended resource and deep industry knowledge.

“Countrywide was the obvious choice as it shares our passion for exceptional client service and putting the customer at the centre of all it does. The whole team are really excited about embarking on the next stage of the company’s development.”

Countrywide invested in The Buy to Let Business last month.
