The contract, which involves being on notice to service mortgages should the existing provider be unable to cope, covers over 2200 residential assets totalling £206m.

Andrew Doyle, interim chief executive for Crown, said: “It is encouraging to see our growth in standby servicing. Crown takes the provision of standby servicing very seriously and our clients recognise the expertise we offer in this area having been the only servicer to be called on a standby, which we still service.”

This brings Crown’s standby assets under management to a total of £9.8bn across a wide variety of residential and commercial portfolios.

Doyle added: “We have been able to grow assets under management in a difficult environment and hope to continue to build on this in 2013.”
