eMoov has released a London Underground Tube Map detailing the house prices surrounding every stop.

The map revealed major price differences between neighbouring stops. For example on the Northern Line the difference between Archway (£645,000) and Highgate (£1.3m) was £1.16m.

On the Victoria Line prices were £810,000 cheaper in Vauxhall (£690,000) compared to Pimlico (£1.5m) and in Central London the difference between Leicester Square (£1.1m) and Piccadilly Circus on the Piccadilly line was (£1.5m).

House prices near the Barking station were the cheapest in the whole of London (£237,337), with other cheap stations being Dagenham East (237,792) and Becontree (£240,294).

The cheapest stops in Zones 3, 2 and 1 were East Ham (£274,206), West Ham (£313,054) and Aldgate East (£535,920).

Russell Quirk, founder and chief executive of eMoov.co.uk, said: “The tube map is a fascinating way of breaking down the London landscape, especially where property price is concerned.

“Despite the constant threat of strike action, a property close to a tube stop, on a good line, remains one of the most sought after pieces of property in the capital. Close proximity to a tube stop will always act as an additional selling point for sellers and in most cases, is justification for a higher asking price.

“It’s well worth doing your homework when buying in London, because as this research shows, sacrificing a few extra minutes with a longer commute can result in a considerable reduction in the price you will pay for a property.”
