EXCLUSIVE: Alan Young returns to conveyancing with Aventria Group

Alan Young has returned to the conveyancing market as chief commercial officer of Aventria Group after spending a year and a half at John Charcol.

Young was director of partnerships and then chief commercial officer at John Charcol, while before that he spent nearly seven years at ULS Technology, latterly as business development director. Pre-credit crunch he was regional sales manager at GMAC-RFC.

Young said: “I’ve returned to shake up the panel world. Solicitors have been undervalued and underpaid for their work but they are integral in getting the job done for everyone and should be recognised for that.

“We offer a fair-for-all approach, to give solicitors the right amount for the work, customers the right amount and to streamline the conveyancing process.”

Aventria is a conveyancing panel management solution which has worked with a major mortgage broker in the UK for the past four years, as well as the online estate agent YOPA for the past six months.

The plan is for Aventria to go whole of market next month.

There’s a personal element to Young’s move, as he is looking forward to working with “introducers that are my friends” again.

All 17 solicitors firms on Aventria’s panel are API integrated, which Young regards as a major selling point.

He added: “We want to give customers something they don’t have.

“The market hasn’t evolved. Technology keeps evolving and you need to be ahead of the game.

“It’s about helping the customer and broker with communication and transparency.”

Alan Young’s dad Andy Young, now retired, is well known and respected in the intermediary market.

His last job was chief executive of TBMC, while before that he was at Sesame and Zurich IFA Mortgage Network.

Before getting into financial services Alan Young was a professional footballer who played for Swindon Town and had a stint at Celtic before an ankle ligament injury drastically halted his progress. He eventually retired aged 22.
