Exeter pays 92pc of protection claims
The insurer revealed that nearly four in 10 paid claims were for injuries and accidents, while one in 10 were for back and spinal problems.
Andy Chapman, chief executive officer, said: “Our statistics consistently prove that despite what people may think, they’re not in control of their own health.
“The fact that nearly four in 10 claims are made as a result of an accident shows just how important it is to protect your ability to earn a living.”
The mutual bank has published a breakdown of illnesses resulting in claims and why some were declined in the form of an infographic.
Chapman added: “These statistics prove that we continue to deliver against our promise.
“That at the moment of truth our members can trust Exeter Family to look after them.”
