Furness appoint new non-executive director

Furness Building Society has appointed Phillip McLelland to their board of directors.

He started his career in the building society sector and is a qualified management accountant.

McLelland is currently finance director of the consumer credit division at Provident Financial.

Furness increases offer validity period from three to six months

Colin Millar, chairman of the Furness, said: “We are extremely pleased to welcome Phillip as a non-executive director to the society’s board.

“As finance director for UKAR and now Provident Financial, Phillip brings with him a good commercial sense and track record.

“With executive and board level experience across mortgages and savings and consumer finance, we look forward to working with him to drive the society forward.”

Phillip McLelland added: “I am looking forward to working with the board at Furness and developing further an already financially strong, independent and mutual society.”
