Home registrations at 5-year high
The NHBC said that from January to the end of June 2013 it registered 67,422 homes in total.
Within this, private sector registrations climbed 23% to 48,817 against the same period last year. Registrations for public housing rose 56% to 18,605.
Meanwhile registrations for Q2 2013 (April-June) totalled 35,683 – a 38% increase compared to Q2 2012, and a 12% increase on Q1.
Quarterly private sector registrations rose 29% to 25,209 whilst public housing registrations jumped 67% to 10,474. NHBC said that the uplift in registrations was apparent across the country.
Richard Tamayo, commercial director, said: “This seems a broad based recovery, London remains the engine for growth but it is being seen elsewhere.
“There is something very genuine in terms of growth here, albeit from a low base.
“July registrations are showing clear indications that builders are returning to the challenge of ramping up production and increasing volumes from this low base.”
