On average, homes on streets with the same name as that featured in the ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street’ horror franchise sell for 37% lower than the average for their postcode area, Accord Mortgages has found.
Property sale prices on Elm Streets can be up to 68% lower than the local average.
Homes on Elm Street in Skelmanthorpe, Huddersfield saw the biggest difference, selling for £110,555 less than the average.
Jemma Anderson, product manager at Accord, said: “There are so many factors which can determine house prices and our research highlights that even superstition can have a financial impact.
“For buyers who don’t scare easily, it’s a chance to purchase a home in an area which might have been out of reach, but remember, it may well terrify others when you come to sell.”
