October 16, 2020

Hometrack, which provides automated valuation models (AVMs) and portfolio insight to the UK property market, has unveiled its first ever webinar series targeted at the financial services industry.

The series of webinars will take place throughout the rest of 2020 and into early 2021.

The series will explore what is happening in the market now, the latest trends and consumer behaviours, the practical view for lenders, and possible tech solutions.

The first webinar topic will be sustainable origination in an uncertain environment, and will cover the impediments to lending confidently against a backdrop of COVID-19, and the uncertainty around general markets and the political landscape.

The debate will encompass the challenge of choosing the right business to match risk appetite, and how the use of data modelling plays a role in helping to predict and manage sustainable value.

The panel will explore: the last global financial crisis and the similarities to today’s climate; what consumers want as markets change, and the effect that COVID has had on demand and desirability in different micro markets; and effective origination decisions, and the degree to which information on who to lend to, for what property, in which micro market, predicts sustainable value, allowing lenders to grow.

Hosted by Richard Donnell, research and insight director at Zoopla and Theo Brewer, product director at Hometrack, the first webinar will take place on Thursday 22 October at 2pm.

David Ross, managing director of Hometrack, said: “The new Hometrack webinar series is an opportunity for our customers and industry stakeholders to hear more about solutions to the most challenging issues affecting the mortgage lending market today.

“Against a backdrop of COVID uncertainty and ongoing eco-political upheaval, risk has assumed a new level of importance and is at the forefront of any decision making process.

“We hope the webinars will help reframe approaches to risk, as we highlight solutions and new ways of thinking that we believe can support mortgage lenders in their high level operations.”
