IMLA2014: UK needs joined up housing policy
Haresnape said the UK is currently in the midst of a major housing shortage and that more had to be done to resolve the matter.
Speaking at the IMLA Great Housing Debate he said: “There are too many constraints on the affordable housing market.
“Both social and housing authority funding has been in short supply over the last few years and unless more is done this will not change anytime soon.
“The UK needs a more joined up housing policy if it is to resolve these issues.”
Recent research from the CBI found that 240,000 new homes need to be built every year to meet current levels of demand but over 200,000 homes have been delivered in only four out of the last 14 years.
