MP Kit Malthousehas been named asHousingMinister, the 17th since 1997 and eighth in eight years,after Dominic Rabb left the role to become Brexit Secretary following David Davis' resignation.

In January Rabb became housing minister in January,replacing Alok Sharma while Malthouse, the MP for North West Hampshire, was appointed as Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State at the DWP,wherehe wasresponsible for financial support for housing includingUniversal Credit.

In 2008 he becamevicechairman of theMetropolitan Police Authority, then in 2012deputymayor to Boris Johnson but stood down in 2015 to stand as MP.

James Chidgey, new homes relationship manager, Mortgage Advice Bureau, said: "We've been told for months that housing is a number one priority but its disappointing to have this continual merry-go-round with some ministers in office for no longer than a Strictly Come Dancing series."
