Legal and General has launched a critical illness upgrade option, CIx option, which will be available via intermediaries, providing cover for more conditions.
Customers taking out CIx are provided with an offering which includes the same protection provided by Legal & General’s standard critical illness cover and supports in total, 95 selected conditions.
Alan Lakey, independent financial adviser, said: “L&G has been the market-leading CIC brand for many years and these significant changes are welcome in the market that it offers greater choice for both advisers and consumers, whilst simultaneously improving condition coverage which will result in an increase to paid claims.
“CIExpert is pleased to see L&G competing on both quality and price as well as the impressive, recently released claims figures.”
Legal and General has recently launched optional children’s critical illness extra, and GP24 virtual GP service.
Craig Brown, intermediary director at Legal & General, added: “Intermediaries are critical to our business.
“We’ve listened carefully and thoughtfully delivered a market leading choice ofcritical illness cover, allowing advisers to strike an optimum balance between cover and price for every customer. We are enabling intermediaries to protect more customers than ever before.”
