The alliance aims to bring major benefits for both firms, their
customers, and their existing business partners in the housing and mortgage industries.

The move will see Legal & General’s market leading mortgage
protection products being made available to thousands of home
movers through the Connells Group 335 strong team of mortgage consultants.

The partnership also intends to secure and grow valuation and home inspector capability to meet the significant challenges posed by the introduction of Home Information Packs (HIPs) in England and Wales in 2007.

Legal & General’s Group Director (UK Operations) Robin Phipps said, “The Connells Group is a major power house in the housing and mortgage markets. We’re delighted to have been chosen by them to provide our life products through their network. We have common interests in a number of areas, particularly given the changes within estate agency and surveying over the next 18 months. I believe the relationship will benefit both parties and their Group/Trading Partners.

Stephen Shipperley, Connells group chief executive said, “Legal & General is an ideal strategic partner for the Connells Group. Like us, they are a market leading company with
market leading products and services. This makes them a perfect fit for our customer offering.

“Working with them on a strategic level will also bring maximum benefits to both Legal & General and the Connells Group, not least as we both prepare for the introduction of Home Information Packs next year. We are collaborating on a number of initiatives that will significantly extend our capabilities ahead of the new HIP legislation and bring group-wide benefit to both companies.”
