Lenders and networks must do more to make sure brokers are equipped for challenges facing the buy-to-let market, a leading estate agency and network has warned.

The buy-to-let sector has seen plagued by challenges of late including reforms to stamp duty and a turn-down in buy-to-let property applications.

But John Phillips, national operations director at Spicer Haart and Just Mortgages, said education could be the key to keeping the market strong.

He added that whist lenders’ appetites have shifted following stamp duty changes earlier in the year networks have a duty to meet challenging times by helping close the skills gap.
