She said: “My mum was successfully treated here so it’s a cause very close to my heart. This will be my very first time running the London Marathon, having been unlucky on the previous eight occasions I have tried to get in.”

Megan Smith, mortgage and protection adviser at Simpson BowersWealth Management is a marathon newcomer, having never ever run 26 miles before and will be running for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Smith added: “I am not what you could describe as an avid runner and I certainly haven’t run a marathon before.

“I am running for a great cause in Macmillan Cancer Support although I am very nervous. However, this is something I have on my bucket list and I am really looking forward to the challenge.”

Dan Maskell, director of The Finance Planning Group, will be running for Pancreatic Cancer and has the experience of running a marathon.

He said: “I am very excited to be running in the Virgin Money London Marathon but also a touch apprehensive. However, it is an opportunity to raise some money for an excellent cause.”

Hoare and Earnshaw are running for the charityDementia Revolution, which is a joining of forces of the Alzheimer’s Society and Alzheimer’s Research UK

Earnshaw said:“They have come together to power ground-breaking research at the UK Dementia Research Institute.

“Dementia is the biggest health threat facing society today and there are currently no effective treatments to slow, prevent or cure it.

“Today, 50 million people are living with dementia across the world. Too often they struggle alone, feeling as though their world has been turned upside down and often facing prejudice or misunderstanding.

“But no more. A revolution is growing – on the streets and in the laboratories. Scientists are gaining on dementia, pioneering breakthroughs and transforming lives. It is time to bring dementia out of the shadows and set things straight.”

He added: “Having both taken part in previous years we know what to expect on the day, which will be an incredible and thrilling, albeit exhausting run around some of the most iconic streets of the capital, but we also appreciate the work involved to make it to the start line.

“We will each complete around 400 training miles in the months leading up to the big day – which is around 60 hours – pounding the streets in wind, rain, snow and, if we are lucky, the occasionally sunny day!

“We are doing it as we are passionate about raising awareness (and hopefully funds) for Dementia Revolution. If anyone can support us then you can search our names on theVirginMoneyGiving web site to make a donation.”

Hoare added: “The sense of self achievement you have when completing the course both personally and in the knowledge that you are helping others is unbelievable.

“For everyone that has supported Gavin and myself me in the past with our charity work I’d like to say thank you, you have made a real difference to people’s lives.

“But please don’t think you can’t do more even if you are doing it from your phone or tablet in the comfort of your own bed whilst we are out putting the miles into our legs!”

Dementia Revolution is a great cause to inspire me to finish in what I hope will be a personal best this year.”

Natasha Moss is running her first ever marathon of any kind and is doing so for two charities, Dementia Revolution and Breast Cancer now.

She said: “I would be lying if I didn’t say I wasn’t nervous after all I am running in the world’s most famous marathon.
