New presidents for property bodies

Jan HÓ±tch from Arnolds Keys LLP has been appointed president of the NAEA, taking over from Mark Hayward who has served in the position for the past year.

Outgoing ARLA president Jane Ingram is replaced by Susan Fitz-Gibbon Residential, of Fitz-Gibbon, as ARLA president.

HÓ±tch began her career with Arnolds in 1993 and rose through the firm to become the first female partner in its 100-year history.

Fitz-Gibbon founded Fitz-Gibbon Residential in 1988, now Fitz-Gibbon, and has been a member of ARLA for 23 years.

HÓ±tch said: “I’m honoured to have been given the opportunity to represent the NAEA and its members.

“I’m looking forward to the months ahead and to the task of sustaining a positive and progressive profile for both our profession and our members.

“In particular, I am committed to continuing the excellent work Mark has been doing, and will be making sure we keep up the pressure on government on behalf of NAEA to ensure they are taking steps to help support the housing market and, in particular, first-time buyers.”

Fitz-Gibbon said: “It is an exciting time for lettings and lettings agents with the private rental sector more popular than ever.

“Professional standards have become an issue that is widely talked about and we are on the cusp of some significant and welcome reform.

“I will pick up from Jane and work closely with Ian to continue to push up professional standards within the lettings industry and ensure the member base is effectively represented.”

Other appointments include Gary Harper as president of the National Association of Valuers and Auctioneers and David Broschomb as chair of The Institution of Commercial and Business Agents.

Harper has 21 years experience in corporate recovery and insolvency asset valuations, having previously worked in the commercial property and land buying sectors for 12 years.

Broschomb has worked in the licensed trade and leisure industry for over 20 years, more than ten of which have been in the business transfer agency and property market.

There have also been additional changes, with Simon Gerrard announced president elect of the NAEA and Valerie Bannister appointed president elect of ARLA.

NAEA and ARLA have also named Martyn Baum from Hartleys Estate Agents as vice president of NAEA and Peter Savage from Landmark Estates as vice president of ARLA.

Both Mark Hayward and Ian Potter will continue in their roles as managing directors of NAEA and ARLA respectively.
