NLA meets in Northampton
The meeting, chaired by John Socha, NLA Vice-Chairman, was addressed by Andrew Heywood, Senior Policy Adviser to the Council of Mortgage Lenders, who gave a comprehensive overview of the changes that would face the private rented sector over the next ten years.
“A number of our members voiced their concern over the tenancy deposit scheme requirements as laid out in the new Act”, said John Socha. “These will most likely come into force in the second half of 2006. The NLA will continue to make representations on this matter during the drafting of the regulations needed to implement the legislation. The Government intend to put the contracts for running their two proposed schemes out to tender and the NLA will seeking involvement in that part of the process as well”.
John Socha continued: “We were very pleased to have Andrew Heywood as our guest speaker. It was very interesting to hear the perspective of the CML on what the landlord community is likely to face in the future. It was very gratifying that members came from as far away as Rugby and Coventry to hear the speaker and join in the discussions that followed”.
