One in ten plans new mortgage

According to the survey, 11% of consumers planned in December to take out a mortgage or remortgage, up from 10% in September, suggesting that prospects for the housing market still look good. Last year saw a boom in house prices as consumers took advantage of the lowest interest rates for years. The survey found that nearly a quarter of respondents planned to take on some more debt of some type or the other over the next six months.
