Potty about mortgages

Potty about mortgages

The second series of The Great Pottery Throw Down returned to BBC Two this month, a show which sees ten nationwide amateur potters battle it out in a bid to be named Top Potter.

The amateurs make every kind of pottery imaginable for judges Keith Brymer Jones and Kate Malone, while host Sara Cox guides viewers through the competition.

Amongst the midst of those competing is a self-employed mortgage broker named Daniel Pratap from Farnborough.

Pratap has been in the UK mortgage business for over 30 years after moving from Sydney to Southampton at the age of three. It was a teacher at a Southampton based school which he claimed gave him the inspiration to take up pottery.

Mortgages aren’t his only passion, as he reveals that he makes his pottery in a small studio at his home- a space he shares with his three daughters and two rabbits.

Both career paths a far cry from what he studied at university: Microbiology at Wolverhampton Polytechnic.

You can catch up on Pratap's pottery journey on BBC iPlayer and regularly catch it on Thursdays at 8pm, BBC Two.

We know who we will be rooting for!!
