RBS to defer mortgage payments for coronavirus sufferers

Royal Bank of Scotland has said it will defer mortgage and loan repayments for up to three months for customers affected by coronavirus.

RBS is the first bank to confirm that it will make the move but it is expected that others will soon follow.

The Bank also said that customers can ask for temporary increases to credit card spending limits and higher cash machine withdrawal limits .

The RBS decision follows a move by the Italian government which will see mortgage repayments deferred for a period of time.
