Sesame launches general insurance training initiative for adviser firms

The course, which is delivered by Sesame’s GI and regulatory training team, provides previously non-regulated staff with the knowledge, skills and permissions to enable them to offer advice to clients on buildings, contents and ASU products. Roll out of the programme follows a pilot exercise that successfully trained 30 non-regulated staff earlier this year.

Roger Crocker, Head of GI and Development at Sesame said: “Providing IFA support staff with these important skills means they can deliver a valuable service to clients and generate additional revenue for the firm. The feedback from principals and staff who took part in our pilot training course has been extremely encouraging. Firms are increasingly recognising the importance of building renewal income, and how this can help embed value in their business.”

IFA firm 4Most Ltd, based in Brixham, Devon, has three administrators who took part in Sesame’s GI pilot training programme. David Moore, principal of 4Most Ltd, commented: “Our firm has always advised on general insurance business, but it has never been a focus area as we didn’t have sufficient time. However, in the current tough market we saw an opportunity to provide an additional service to our clients and open up an alternative revenue stream.”

Moore continued: “Sixty per cent of our business is currently funds under management, so we are well aware of the importance of building renewal income, and GI is another way that we can achieve this. We know that our clients value our personalised service and Sesame’s new general insurance initiative gives us another opportunity to talk to them about their needs.”
