This follows positive feedback after last year launching its over 55 buy-to-let options range to allow landlords over the age of 55 to release cash from their property tax free, leaving their entire portfolio intact.

Under 45s are much more comfortable with the concept of debt in older age than those over 45, a trend that could ease the future retirement savings gap, Retirement Advantage has found.

Legal and General Mortgage Club has launched later life lending courses for brokers, in collaboration with Retirement Advantage and Pure Retirement.

Some 18 first-time buyers a week took a step on to the housing ladder in 2017 thanks to family members taking out equity release loans, Retirement Advantage found.

Retirement Advantage’s ‘Home Is Where The Wealth Is’ report found that only one in three (35%) were likely to consider it, with 62% saying they were unlikely to.

Nearly one in four do not know whether their home is worth more than their pension, up from 5% last year.
