The Society extended its range in its home county of Dorset in 2010 and is now building on its regional presence by reaching out to residents in its neighbouring county.

Colin Dorman, national account manager at Teachers, said: “We’re seeing more and more applications from the Dorset area so it makes perfect sense to extend to Hampshire while retaining our specialism in mortgages for people working in the education sector nationwide.

“I know that many intermediary partners on our doorstep have clients in both counties and I’m confident that they’ll be pleased to be able to offer our growing suite of products across the county border.”

The Dorset-based mutual offers a range of residential and buy-to-let deals including mortgages up to 95% loan to value.

Jeremy Duncombe, director of Legal & General Mortgage Club, said: “It is good to see Teachers widen its geographical spread in addition to catering for educational professionals.

“This will allow its new range of products to be taken by more customers who wouldn’t have previously qualified.”

Sally Laker, managing director at Mortgage Intelligence Holdings, said: “With Teachers now lending to non-teaching applicants in the Hampshire area I feel this is a welcome addition to their proposition allowing even more advisers access to their competitive products and excellent service.”

Teachers is on track to increase lending by 20% this year with around half of new business derived from intermediaries. The Society re-entered the intermediary market in May 2011.
