Twenty-five year mortgages from credit unions

Some credit unions have previously offered secured loans to help their members buy property, but the maximum loan period was previously 15 years.

From Monday, Glasgow Council, Capital, Scotwest and Leeds City credit unions will all be able to provide mortgages to their members over the standard 25 year period.

Not all the credit unions will launch the products straight away, as they complete the development of the products they will offer their members.
